Dear SBCS Online Backup Customer,
We here at Small Business Computer Solutions
appreciate and value our SBCS online backup customers. We trust that you
find our online back service a convenient and easy to use program.
Even though this service is automatic and simple to
use it still needs some routine intervention by you the user. It is
possible for your files not to be backed up under the following
conditions.
- If you have exceeded your allotted backup
space. This is not an unlimited amount of backup space. Customers
with the Standard plan have 4 Gig of combined space. Please remember
that files than have been updated will be backed up if they are in
the scheduled backup routine.
- Files that are open will not be backed up. If
you leave QuickBooks or Word files open they will not be backed up
automatically that night. This is because the file is locked to the
process controlling it (QB or Word etc.).
- If the file is not in the SBCS backup area.
Everything that you save to your hard drive is not backed up.
Only files designated in your backup scheme. This can easily be
checked by open the SBCS Backup program and looking in the “Backup
View” then “Explore to Pick Files”. Check to make sure the folders
you want backed up are marked. If you need help in this area please
give us a call.
- If there is not connectivity to the Internet.
If you lose Internet connection during the backup routine your files
will not be backup until the next scheduled backup or if done
manually.
We advise you to check the backup at least once a
week to make sure backups are working correctly. This can be done again
by opening the SBCS Backup in the Programs area or by right mouse
clicking on the little “red ball and laptop” icon in the bottom right
hand corner of your screen (near the digital clock). You can then look
at the “LOG” tab at the top of the screen and see all the backups that
have taken place. The latest backup is always the bottom listing. Double
click on the bottom listing and see the files that were backed up last
evening.
SBCS backup is a very useful and easy to use
program but like every other program it can only do what is was designed
and configured to do. If your system is exceeding the design limit or
not configured to backup the proper files then you are not protected!
If you have any questions or concerns please call

questions you may have.
